Spiritual Disciplines – Fasting

Rev Peter Crumpler continues his series on the Spiritual Disciplines, with this time a focus on Fasting. In this episode, Peter interviews Anne de la Hunty of St Paul’s about her knowledge and experience of fasting. Anne is a nutritionist and the editor of a nutrition journal, who designed the ‘Hungry for God’ course that was run at St Paul’s a while ago. The interview lasts about 20 minutes – and is a vital introduction for anyone who wants to explore the often-neglected spiritual discipline of fasting.

Weekly Prayer (Mondays online 8-9 pm)

The writer of Hebrews in chapter 10 verse 25 encourages us to “not give up meeting together…but encouraging one another—and all the more as you see the Day approaching.” In the face of something that we can’t control then what better way to respond than to continue to gather in prayer (albeit online) to the one who IS in control, Jesus.   Starting from this Monday we will be gathering online for a weekly church prayer meeting to pray into and about the COVID 19 pandemic and associated issues we and the country face at this time. It will be over Zoom which is like Skype (don’t be surprised to see this word in the Oxford English dictionary when all this is over!).   If you would like to join us, please email andy@stpauls-stalbans.org to get the soom login details.   Feel free to invite others but there is a 100 person limit on Zoom but we could expand that if need requires which we hope it does!

Support

There’s wonderful support happening across the St Paul’s family and in our neighbourhoods, through existing friendships and homegroups, and new networks. We really want everyone to keep safe and to support each other in self isolation and social distancing, and so we are helping put people in touch with each other for practical help with shopping and errands, phone or online chats, and prayer.

If you count yourself as one of our church family and would like to offer support in these ways, please email support@stpauls-stalbans.org

If you are in need at this time, and are local to St Paul’s, please contact us. If we cannot help directly, we will try to put you in touch with other local groups. Please email support@stpauls-stalbans.org
