Andrew Brown raises 15k by charity climb
Andrew Brown, a member of St Paul's Church, Blandford Road, St Albans, raised more than £15,000 for charity Macmillan Cancer Support, by trekking to the top of Mount Kilimanjaro, the highest mountain in Africa.
Andrew, who is 54, and Secretary to the Church of England's Church Commissioners, spent five days trekking across rugged country to reach the summit of the majestic Tanzanian mountain at 5,895 metres early on Thursday morning (January 26th).

Afterwards, he said: "I felt quite emotional when I reached the top. It was the culmination of ten months' work and training since I first applied to go on the trip and I had to overcome a knee injury during that time. Although the trek was tough, it was the adrenalin that kept me going.
"When I began telling people I was going on the expedition, so many told me about how Macmillan had helped them or somebody close to them. This made me even more determined to complete the climb."
Andrew, who paid all his own expenses, said he was attracted to the expedition by wanting to take on a tough physical challenge, to see the mountain and its fantastic views, to visit Africa and, most importantly, to raise a significant amount of money for a very worthwhile charity.
Money can still be donated to Macmillan via Andrew Brown's account at:
