Inter-faith cricket match

Howzat! Canon Tony Hurle, Vicar of St Paul's Church, St Albans, gets help from members of the cricket team from the Islamic Centre, Hatfield Road, Fleetville, St Albans, as he keeps the score at the city's annual inter-faith cricket match.
The 25-over-a-side match, played at Verulamium Park on Sunday (July 3rd) resulted in a 143-run victory for the team from the Islamic Centre, against a team drawn from St Paul's Church, Hatfield Road Methodist
Church, and the St Albans Masorti Synagogue.
After the match, Canon Tony Hurle said; "It felt like a match played in great spirit by a group of friends, who happened to be of different faiths. The annual cricket match is just another example of the faith communities in St Albans seeking to get to know each other in a range of ways. Other events have included meals, discussions and visits."
Some of the players, from both teams, will be taking in a special tournament, organised by the Diocese of St Albans on Sunday July 24th, when multi-faith teams from St Albans, Bedford, Luton and Watford will compete for a cup to be presented by the Bishop of St Albans, the Rt Revd Alan Smith, at Woollam Playing Fields, St Albans.
