The Vision:
Previously in the St.Paul's Youth programme we have had a lot of stuff going on that caters for and providses a medium - large group setting.
So what we're going for here is something a bit different: Space
Space to talk and be really honest about life's joys and struggles;
Space to have a great time and grow in fellowship with each other;
Space to think, pray, and especially to get more in love with Jesus.
'Bale' is the collective noun for tortoise. Aren't tortoises great? Like Duracell batteries, they just keep going on and on. In Bales, tortoises make that journey together.
Jesus never meant us to do the Christian walk alone, he meant us to do it in partnership and relationship: to encourage each other, and to keep on moving together.
Hence: Bales.
The space to grow in a small group, to be mentored by an older Christian, and to plod along in community together.
The Values:
1. SPIRITUAL GROWTH. We are serious about Jesus. Bales are a place to grow and get down and dirty Spiritually.
2. PERSONAL GROWTH. Jesus was into peoples lives. Talk honestly and learn life lessons together in a Bale
3. GROWTH IN GIFTING. God made you just as you are! Her is a place to say 'yeah, I AM good at drama / dance / karaoke / fishing' and learn to develop your gifts.
So Practically...
If you have read this far and want to get involved....
Bale groups are committed groups of 3-4 young people of similar age and same sex and one older mentor. As a group you'll aim to meet together around 4 times per school term. At the moment, we can only offer the programme to young people in school years 9 and up.
We won't sort your programme - as long as the Bale is meeting your personal and spiritual needs, you can do what you want! Definitely have a good time!
SO, talk to your parents about it, and get involved! Commit to join a Bale season - we'll team you up with some other top people and get you going!
Dead easy.
Happy plodding!
