Who is Alpha for?

Alpha is for everyone! It particularly caters for:

  • People asking questions of life: What is the point of life? What happens when we die? What relevance does Jesus have for our lives today? How do we deal with guilt?
  • People interested in investigating Christianity.
  • Newcomers to the Church.
  • New Christians.
  • People preparing for marriage/baptism/confirmation.
  • Those who want to brush-up on the basics.
  • Anyone interested in finding out more about the Christian faith.

People of all ages are welcome.

When and where?

The Alpha course meets weekly for ten or eleven weeks at St Paul’s Church, St Albans.

We are regularly running course at St Paul’s Church, St Albans. Please sign up here.

Evening courses begin with a meal at 7.30pm, the talk follows at 8.15pm, and the evening ends at 10.00pm.

What happens at Alpha?

A typical evening begins with a meal together, followed by a short talk and video looking at topics such as:

  • Who is Jesus?
  • Why did Jesus die?
  • Why and how should I read the Bible?
  • Why and how do I pray?
  • What about the Holy Spirit?
  • How does God guide us?
  • How can I resist evil?
  • Why and how should we tell others?
  • Does God heal today?
  • What about the Church?
  • How can I make the most of the rest of my life?

After each talk there is time in small groups for everyone to discuss any issues, ask questions they may have or express opinions and give them the opportunity to get to know each other and learn together.

What does Alpha cost?

Nothing! There is no charge for attending the Alpha course, or for the dinner provided. It’s our pleasure to host you!
