Over 2 million people in the UK and 11 million worldwide have now attended an Alpha course, an opportunity to explore the meaning of life, running in tens of thousands of churches of all denominations across the world.
Alpha is a wonderful opportunity to explore the Christian faith in a relaxed setting over several weeks. It gives people exploring faith a chance to ask whatever questions they like in a friendly setting, with a fellow group of explorers.
At St Pauls, we have hosted Alpha for many years. Now, during the lockdown, when many people are asking questions about the meaning of life and what the future might hold, we want to respond to those questions by running Alpha – this time online. Here’s a little taster of what you can expect:
Alpha is a series of free 90 min sessions exploring the Christian faith, typically run over eleven weeks. Each video-based session looks at a different question around faith and is designed to create conversation. Millions of people around the world have already taken Alpha in a wide range of venues.
Topics covered include ‘Who Is Jesus?’ ‘How Can I Have Faith?’ ‘How Does God Guide Us?’ and ‘How Can I Make the Most of the Rest of My Life?’
Usually, Alpha includes food, a talk and good conversation. During this time of social distancing, we sadly cannot offer food – but we believe the talk and good conversation will still be just as good over video chat.
